Refund policy

Effective date: 19 June 2026

1. Introduction

This Refund Policy explains when refunds may be available for courses, digital learning materials, certificates and related services purchased from Data Protection Global Ltd.

Data Protection Global Ltd is a UK-based online learning provider offering professional training in data protection, GDPR, UK GDPR, Data Protection Officer skills, privacy compliance, CIPP/E preparation, AI governance, staff awareness and related professional development areas.

This Refund Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

If you have any questions about this Refund Policy, contact us at:

[email protected]

2. Digital Courses and Online Learning Access

Our courses are provided as digital content and online learning services.

This may include:

  • online course access;

  • video lessons;

  • text lessons;

  • quizzes;

  • downloadable resources;

  • templates;

  • course notes;

  • learning materials;

  • certificates of completion;

  • learner dashboard access.

Because our courses are digital products, refund rights may be affected once course access has started.

3. Your 14-Day Cancellation Right

If you are a UK consumer purchasing online, you may have a legal right to cancel certain purchases within 14 days.

For digital content, this right may be lost once you have agreed to immediate access and the course or digital content has been made available to you.

By purchasing a course and accessing the course content, starting lessons, downloading materials, attempting quizzes or using the learner dashboard, you acknowledge that digital content access has begun and that your right to cancel may be affected.

This does not affect your statutory rights if the course or digital content is faulty, not as described or not supplied with reasonable care and skill.

4. Refunds Before Course Access

You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase if:

  • you have not accessed the course;

  • you have not started any lesson;

  • you have not downloaded any course material;

  • you have not attempted any quiz or assessment;

  • you have not received or requested a certificate;

  • the purchase was not made as part of a non-refundable business, team training or customised package.

If these conditions are met, we will review your refund request and, where approved, process the refund using the original payment method where possible.

5. Refunds After Course Access Has Started

Refunds will not normally be available once you have accessed or used the digital course content.

This includes where you have:

  • opened the course in your learner account;

  • started one or more lessons;

  • watched course content;

  • downloaded learning materials;

  • accessed templates, guides or resources;

  • attempted a quiz or assessment;

  • completed part of the course;

  • completed the full course;

  • received, requested or downloaded a certificate.

This is because digital content is supplied immediately and cannot be returned in the same way as physical goods.

6. Faulty, Unavailable or Misdescribed Courses

Your statutory rights are not affected by this Refund Policy.

If a course is faulty, not as described, unavailable due to our fault, or not supplied with reasonable care and skill, you should contact us as soon as possible.

We may offer one or more of the following depending on the issue:

  • technical support;

  • correction of the issue;

  • replacement access;

  • course access extension;

  • alternative course access;

  • partial refund;

  • full refund.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives consumers rights where digital content is not of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose or as described.

7. Technical Problems

If you experience a technical problem, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.

Technical issues may include:

  • login problems;

  • course access errors;

  • video playback issues;

  • download problems;

  • certificate access problems;

  • payment confirmation delays.

A refund will not normally be given where the issue is caused by:

  • your internet connection;

  • your device;

  • your browser settings;

  • unsupported software;

  • firewall or workplace restrictions;

  • incorrect login details;

  • failure to follow reasonable technical guidance.

However, we will make reasonable efforts to help you access the course where possible.

8. Change of Mind

Refunds for change of mind may be available only where:

  • the request is made within 14 days of purchase; and

  • you have not accessed or used the course or digital content.

Once course access has started, refunds for change of mind will not normally be available.

9. Course Suitability

Before purchasing, you are responsible for checking that the course is suitable for your needs.

This includes reviewing:

  • course title;

  • course description;

  • learning outcomes;

  • level;

  • course length;

  • modules;

  • certificate information;

  • intended audience;

  • access period;

  • price.

Refunds will not normally be given because:

  • you chose the wrong course;

  • the course was not what you personally expected after access;

  • you changed your learning goals;

  • you no longer need the course;

  • you did not have enough time to complete it;

  • you did not pass a quiz;

  • you did not achieve an external certification or job outcome.

We may consider reasonable requests on a case-by-case basis where the course has not been accessed.

10. Certificates

Where a course includes a certificate of completion, the certificate may be issued after the stated completion requirements are met.

Refunds will not normally be available once a certificate has been issued, requested or downloaded.

If a certificate contains an error caused by us, we will correct and reissue it where appropriate.

If a certificate contains an error because you entered incorrect details, we may correct it at our discretion.

11. Downloadable Materials

Some courses may include downloadable materials such as templates, guides, checklists, worksheets or course notes.

Refunds will not normally be available once downloadable materials have been accessed or downloaded.

This is because downloadable digital materials cannot be returned.

12. Discounted Courses, Promotions and Vouchers

Courses purchased using a discount, promotional offer, voucher or limited-time deal may still be subject to this Refund Policy.

Refunds will not normally be available where:

  • the course has been accessed;

  • the discount offer stated that the purchase was non-refundable;

  • the promotional period has ended;

  • the voucher has been redeemed;

  • digital materials have been downloaded;

  • the certificate has been issued.

Promotional codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money.

13. Bundles and Course Packages

If you purchase a bundle or package of courses, refund eligibility will depend on whether any part of the bundle has been accessed.

Refunds will not normally be available once you have accessed one or more courses in the bundle, downloaded materials or received a certificate.

If we approve a partial refund for a bundle, we may deduct the value of any course, material, certificate or service already accessed.

14. Team Training and Business Purchases

Team training and business purchases may have separate refund and cancellation terms.

Where an organisation purchases training for employees, contractors or team members, refunds will not normally be available once:

  • learner accounts have been created;

  • course access has been issued;

  • training has started;

  • materials have been provided;

  • certificates have been issued;

  • customised work has begun;

  • agreed learner places have been reserved.

If a separate written agreement, proposal or invoice sets out different cancellation or refund terms, those terms will apply.

Consumer cancellation rights may not apply to business purchases.

15. Customised Training or Bespoke Services

Refunds are not normally available for customised or bespoke services once work has started.

This may include:

  • customised team training;

  • tailored course recommendations;

  • bespoke learning materials;

  • organisation-specific training setup;

  • custom reporting;

  • private cohort preparation;

  • consultancy-style training support.

If a bespoke service is cancelled before work begins, we may consider a refund after deducting any reasonable costs already incurred.

16. Duplicate Payments

If you believe you have been charged more than once for the same course or service, contact us at:

[email protected]

If we confirm that a duplicate payment was made in error, we will refund the duplicate payment using the original payment method where possible.

17. Failed Payments and Chargebacks

If a payment fails, is reversed, disputed or charged back, we may suspend or remove access to the relevant course or service.

If you believe a payment issue has occurred in error, contact us before raising a chargeback so we can try to resolve the issue.

Misuse of chargebacks may result in account suspension or refusal of future purchases.

18. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email:

[email protected]

Please include:

  • your full name;

  • email address used for purchase;

  • course name;

  • purchase date;

  • order reference, if available;

  • reason for the refund request;

  • whether you have accessed the course or downloaded any materials.

We may ask for further information to help us review your request.

19. Refund Review Process

We will review refund requests fairly and in line with this Refund Policy and applicable UK law.

We may check:

  • purchase date;

  • course access records;

  • lesson activity;

  • download activity;

  • quiz or assessment activity;

  • certificate issue status;

  • payment status;

  • any previous refund history.

We reserve the right to refuse a refund where the request does not meet this Refund Policy or where there is evidence of misuse.

20. Refund Processing Time

Where a refund is approved, we will aim to process it within 14 days of approval.

Refunds will usually be made to the original payment method.

The time it takes for funds to appear in your account may depend on your bank, card provider or payment processor.

We are not responsible for delays caused by banks or third-party payment providers.

21. Access After Refund

If a refund is approved, we may remove or disable access to the refunded course, materials, certificates and related services.

You must not continue to use, copy, share or distribute any materials from a refunded course.

Any certificate issued for a refunded course may be cancelled or treated as invalid.

22. Abuse of Refund Policy

We reserve the right to refuse refund requests and restrict future access where we reasonably believe there has been misuse.

Misuse may include:

  • repeated purchases and refund requests;

  • accessing substantial course content before requesting a refund;

  • downloading materials before requesting a refund;

  • requesting certificates and then seeking a refund;

  • sharing account access;

  • copying or distributing course materials;

  • fraudulent payment activity;

  • false claims about access or technical issues.

23. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or removes your statutory rights.

If you are a consumer, you may have legal rights where digital content or services are faulty, not as described or not supplied with reasonable care and skill.

This Refund Policy is intended to work alongside those rights, not replace them.
